So we are now moving on to the next stage of the Unit in DVD Menu design. The project brief requires us to create a DVD menu for a film of one of four classic genres, Independent Horror, Independent Drama/Thriller, Independent Sci-Fi or Childrens Animation.
I chose the Independent Thriller Genre as I thought that you could start building up tension in the Front End before the Movie has even begun. This starts the interaction early and brings the audience in. I felt this is more true of Thriller then movies such as Drama or Childrens animation where to become engrossed viewers have to get attatched to the characters and the story.
For research, I will have to look into many things, from initial research for inspiration and codes and conventions, and pre-production research to find about things like Budgets and Timing Plans.
