This week I have been adding to my Encore Skills profile and trying more advanced things using my basic knowledge. Last week I learned the basic linking, checking projects, all the necessary formating and ordering of my work. This week I was adding video to my menus so there were moving images behind the menu. This is done by dragging the .mov while pressing Alt. Now when you preview the menu, pressing Render will render the video in the background and play.
I came across a large problem when, after reopening the project and making extensive working menus and chapters the original video "spinningninjas.mov" wouldn't render on my first play menu. After looking closely at the build and flow chart I couldn't find a problem and was getting frustrated. When the immediate problem wasn;t visible I decided to Google search the problem online and it turned out to be quite a common problem. The answer is that Encore doesn't automatically empty it's cache, which causes certain things to clog up and stop working, stopping the render. So after seeing if the advice mathced up to the files in my folder, I deleted certain useless files.
The helpfull website was http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/145/862036
After a few failed attempts I got rid of the files and managed to get the menu working succesfully again.
