For our first project we will be using Photoshop to create Movie Posters. I have 2 years of experience on Photoshop and have developed a wide range of basic to intermediate skills. I have at least a small amount of knowledge in most fields. I think my best skill in Photoshop is problem solving; when I can't use one method I can usually come up with a substitute or alternative and I am good with working with what I am given.
I have experience in using the Wand, Extraction, Layer Properties and Styles, some Filters and Image Adjustments (such as changing Hue/Saturation and Replacing Colour). However, most of my Photoshop work hasn't been very professional, mostly messing around with photos for friends doing things like placing pictures of us with famous characters, putting beards on people in photos etc. In terms of professional uses I have used it for Year 11 Graphics coursework to create the graphics for a fictional video game box and manual. I have also made many Desktop Wallpapers of my own design and logos for friends.
In terms of skills I would like to learn, I would like to be able to use the Pen Selection Tool with confidence as I have never worked out how to use this properly. Also, although I can use the Wand to for instance, extract an image off of a linear coloured background, I need more experience in extracting from everyday photographs with thousands of colours on them. I would also like to be able to use more of the Filters professionally. At the moment I tend to just search for a Filter and play around with them to get the desired effect, so a greater knowledge of which filters do what would help me create better work and save me time.
