Last week the class was introduced to Photoshop. Although I already had Photoshop experience it was good to re-cap base skills and learn some new things as well.
Most importantly for me was the Magnetic Lasso Tool . This tool, when drawn around an image "magnetically" sticks to the shape if it can tell the difference between that and the Background. This is good for when the Magic Wand isn't picking you're desired colour, and is also much quicker than the Extraction Method for when selecting objects.
To add to this I finally worked out how to move Marqueed selections, where you have to go back to the Mouse Tool. This is a very simple thing but something I didn't pick up on through self teaching.
Lastly I learnt more about the Resolution and Canvas set up of my work. Where as normally I would just change the canvas sizes, I've now learnt the importance of changinmg resolutions and colour settings (RGB for Web-Publishing and CYMK for Printing). We also were told the premium resolution for college storage is 150.
